About Crump Family Farm
Crump Family Farm is a simple family property full of love, laughter and hard work. Over the years, we transformed it into a warm and welcoming rustic barn wedding venue in Smiths Grove, Kentucky, where couples can celebrate their new beginnings surrounded by nature and family.
What makes our venue special isn’t just the barn — it’s the heart behind it. Every couple who gets married here becomes part of our extended family, and we feel honored to play a role in such an important chapter.

Our Story
About Crump Family Farm
A Legacy of Family, Faith, and Southern Hospitality
Crump Family Farm is a family-owned rustic-elegant barn wedding venue rooted deeply in Kentucky history. All the way back to 1876, when this peaceful wooded sanctuary first became a working family farm. Many years later, Jeff and Bessie Crump would make it their home, raising their six children here and tending the land with the kind of dedication that defines true Kentucky farm life.
For more than 36 years, the Crump family worked these fields. Life was full and busy, tobacco to raise and process, vegetable gardens to tend, livestock to care for, and the everyday joys and challenges that come with a growing family.
In 1958, Jeff, his oldest son Leon, and Jeff’s brother George built the barn that still stands proudly on the property today. Originally designed for milking and livestock, the barn carries its history in every board—Leon’s name and the original year of construction are carved into two of the foundation stones. Be sure to look for them when you visit.
In 1979, Jeff and Bessie’s youngest son, Edd Lee, took ownership of the farm. Together with his wife, Janice, they raised their two daughters, Jonita & Stacie, on this land, continuing the family’s traditions of hard work, gardening, and raising livestock. Over the years, Edd Lee expanded the barn, adding tier poles and converting the structure into a full tobacco barn—a transformation that served its purpose for nearly two decades.
As time passed, the tobacco industry declined, their daughters grew up and started families of their own, and the barn eventually settled into quieter years as a storage building—a familiar story for many Kentucky farms.
But in 2020, everything changed. One of Edd Lee and Janice’s granddaughters chose to be married right here on the farm. That single moment sparked a new dream and a new season for Crump Family Farm.
With the entire family pitching in, the barn underwent a year-long renovation during 2020–2021, each board cleaned, each beam restored, and every detail chosen with care. We reused and repurposed as much as possible, honoring every chapter of the barn’s history:
➤ a milk barn
➤ a tobacco barn
➤ a storage barn
➤ and now… a place where love stories begin
If you listen closely, you can almost hear the memories whispering through the beams—decades of family life, laughter, hard work, and heart. Today, the barn stands renewed in purpose, ready to welcome new stories, new celebrations, and new generations.
At Crump Family Farm, we stay true to the spirit of this land and the family who built it. Our hope is that every couple, family, and guest who walks through our doors feels the warmth, history, and love woven into this place.
I would be honored to show you the farm. Click here to schedule a tour or call/text 270-792-6038.”
